Just saw this. I cannot believe he is gone. Only talked to him a few times when I had my first MB. After that I just ordered the parts I needed because I knew Phil would get it right. RIP Phil.

Phil was one of the icons of Mercedesshop since its inception in 1999. That jovial voice at the other end of the phone was always helpful to find the one part that you desperately needed.

RIP Phil. You'll be sorely missed by all.

As stated by others, Phil always made me feel like his only customer. Great guy, excellent sense of humor and best parts guy ever.

My condolences to his family, I'm sure he will be missed by many, but by none as much as his family.

RIP Phil.

Mark! My dad told me about you! He really thought you were a spectacular guy and told me about his invitation to D.C. He wanted to visit you but he never wanted to leave his work. I was always trying to get him over here to Washington but it was hard for him to even take a couple days away from that phone and computer of his. He took his work so seriously. That work ethic was something he taught me and also JOY: Jesus first, others second, yourself last. That was my dad, and he loved it!

Just a quick note to say I have only needed a few parts, but speaking to Phil was always a pleasure.
While I am a bit younger, it is that same sense of goodness coming from him that keeps me upbeat and helps to enable me to pass those good qualities on to our kids. His goodness is being passed on to others, even if they don't know it.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Please be assured that it is felt by many here.

Truly heartbreaking. I can only echo the kind words already said - Phil was wonderful to do business with simply because he was clearly a wonderful guy.

Stunned. I only dealt with Phil directly a couple of times. Like someone else said, he made you feel like you were his only customer.

The big man upstairs now has the best parts and service guy ever.

My thoughts to the family.

I was reading and posting away when I saw the link. It was a shock to read having just spoke with him last week...he's been helping me in the midst of a build.
Phil was truly a great man to work with here. He always took care and treated me like I was his only customer. My deepest wishes of peace and most sincere condolences to his family. Rest In Peace Phil. You will be missed.

I had talked to him over ordering parts a few times and I was genuinely amazed (read shocked) to actually experience a person who was selling car spare parts be so "active" about ones order.

Then I read this - I have a very small list of people that really amazed me, he was in it.

very sad, indeed

Jennifer, family, and all of us on the forum.

We have lost a great man who was (is) truly a great example of GREAT customer service. Phil took care of me on numerous occasions when my online ordering process went awry. I wonder how he was organize the various tidbits of information about us and our cars. He seemed to know what car I needed parts.

In my early days on this forum, Phil would prepare price item list/breakdowns showing all the items I initially requested. I would then reduce quanities and often deleted items to get back within my budget. It amazed me how he quickly turned my changes into an order.

Like Charlie, my most recent online order had an issue and Phil took care of it. Here's the link about that experience:
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/fastlane-feedback/311987-phil-great-customer-service.html

I went and looked at the first page of the Fastlane Feedback Fastlane Feedback - PeachParts Mercedes ShopForum and saw numerous threads started by others thanking Phil for taking care of them. He was able to sense when email wasn't working for me and a phone call was necessary. Sometimes, my phone would ring within 30 seconds of my email response back to him. His patience was first rate in dealing with me. I remember once I was trying to get parts ordered on a late Thursday afternoon and receive the next day without having to pay for Saturday delivery. He managed to order the parts out of different location and get them shipped that day, so I could receive them in time for the weekend.

Rest in Peace, Phil. You are already missed.
