Well I say do what you want, i havent had a cigareete ignite gasoline any which way I've tried it.

Try dropping a cig into a bucket of premium, what happens, it goes out.

I did fill a zippo lighter with premium once.. hehe once. ever seen a zippo shoot a flame 6 feet into the air? hehe

As far as fueling with the engine on, I don't remember there being any law in the books on it, but then again its been a while since I had to look at them. hehe I do however notice gas stations display the sign turn off vehicle before fueling.

Personally I turn off my engine, in LA, I'm more worried about someone driving off with the car, I'd really hate to lose my CD's.. hehe. Happened to a friend of mine, he was more pissed that his favorite baseball cap was in the car, than the car being stolen.

I myself have not heard of any explosions att he pumps due to car ebing on while refueling.

Yes those old V8's from the 60's ate gas, but that rumble is something you just love to hear. Had a 68 Vette convertible, and the top was never up. the Exhaust sounded so good and loud that I used to disturb pepople with it all the time.

If you really want to hear how loud your engine really is, try taking off all the pipes after the headers. Its guaranteed to be louder than you think.

It's fine on any 1996 car except V8 and V12 models AND anything prior to 1996. With any 1997 and newer car, it will set a fault code. This is what I have found out so far.

I only do this when there is someone else in the car with me or it is pay at the pump obviously.

I can't believe this issue is taking so much interest / I understand that questions must be responded / But I just refuse to believe that Mercedes drivers are even remotely consider to reach those levels of curiosity / If you are living in any part of the United States and really consider yourself as a good citizen, tell me if;
1) you think that question will make any difference in you life? whatever the response will be?
2) will you reach you place at work early than usual?
3) will you get ahead of the 740 just pass you by?
4) will you make the difference between other drivers, or improve the economy of you country or your motorcar perhaps?
5) will you get back at the OPEC by blowing up you favor gas station?

Call me stupid but I can't get it/

What is so wonderful in yourself, is that you question, bring on us, our innocence, our interests in having us to tell the world that is nothing wrong to be naive...- Sally field was not the only one who say " you love me you really love me"
Believe when others read this comments about you subject, must of them are going to say - really,really,really, we love those guys - look at this...

You get my attention right? Will my answer to you question, raises more questions in me:
Lets make this issue to the top;
1) should I consider to make changes on my brain chemical imbalance?
2) should I accept, that I belong to the other generation of Mercedes fanatics?
3) you think that what I see and heard today, is the version of the MB millennium Rap syndrome? If it is, I have to be prepare.

I just can understand...but I have to believe...

Geeeezzz Shmneeeeezz,

I could never imagine that such a simple topic could create such STRESS and confusion, enough with the right and wrong's already.

Either you think it's OK, or you don't, no big deal.

I only admitted I "did" because I don't enjoy getting wet in the rain (never seem to get fully covered under the canopy!) and futher frost biting my already sensitive ears.

What seems to be over looked here, is that while the car is running you also can latch the pump handle, (usually a spring loaded clip. I'm guessing a safe 75% of the people who fillup don't even know what this is! If you don't believe me just watch how many people use it next time you fillup.) and enjoy the fume-free, warm, acoustically controlled interior of my car while the filling takes place!

Boy! This Election stuff is really making people EDGY!

Have a nice day.
