1989 - 1991 560SEL's

I thought I knew w126's really well... but I am not so sure if there was a difference between the 560's during 1989-1991. Anyone know if there were any difference? Both interior/exterior and mechanically. TIA!

Wink

The 89-91 W126 chassis was one of the "BEST" MB ever made!

The multi-piece radio in the 1991 cars that was CD ready, wasn't one of their best ideas though.

Got a line on two on either end of the money scale. One with 143k for around 5k and one with only 16k or so on it for around 30k. Later is in showroom condition. Other is typical condition for a car that age.
Waiting on pics of the higher mileage one. Send me an email at mjeffcoat1@comcast.net and I will forward the shots of the showroom condition to you.

Differences

I believe some of the differences were: electric rear window shade, orthopedic seat with an adjustable lumbar. The seat feature may have been optional.

If you really want to know all of the differense, go through the EPC and compare the 2 models.

My main question really is..

If you have a 1989 560SEL, how is it different than a 1990 or 1991 560SEL? The 1989 has passenger airbags, and the interior LOOKS the same, but there must be something that makes the NADA/KBB value more between one year and the other? I am thinking of getting a 1989 560sel... so thats why I am asking.

There is no antena switch in a 91.

The only difference in value between an 89 and a 90 is that an 89 seems like a 20 year old car and a 90 seems like a 10 year old car. It's just generic valuation math. Kinda like Honda math that says two 5HP engine mods = a 10HP rise in wheel HP A 91 might have special value because it was the last year of the W126 in the US but I doubt KBB's valuation logic is that precise.

I'm pretty sure that only 1991 560 sec's got ASR.

Does anyone know if '89-'90 560 SEL's had ASR?

91 560sel

It was an option package I believe in that year. One of the easiest ways to tell is to look at the center of the speedometer to see if there is a triangle with a ! point in the center.
