Arrow S420 W140 window/mirrow switch replacement

Hello,

I am new to this forum so please excuse any mistakes. I am having electrical problems with my mirrors. Everytime I adjust them, I blow the corresponding 20A fuse. It works if I replace the 20A fuse with a 25A fuse, but recently I saw smoke/sparks coming from the side mirrors.
I suspect the mirror switch is at fault and attempted to replace it, but I cannot remove the mirror switch from the center console. The S420 center console is a single piece of wood running from the area above the radio to the area below the shifter. (I've seen posted instructions on center consoles, but they were for two-piece consoles.) I can press the mirror switch downwards thru the wood, but do not have enough space to remove it from the wiring, much less fit/wire the new switch in. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Also, does anyone know of a good repair manual for the W140 S-class?

Thanks,

OldSClass
