Hello again,
I also have had the belt tensioner replaced as well as the belt. They told me that I might have to tighten it some after a day or two and since the belt is starting to whine again I tried to tighten it. However, when I go to tighten the nut on top of the tensioner it doesn't seem to grab. It will feel like it's grabbing and then go loose again. I have looked at the bolt and the bolt doesn't move, but I really don't know if it supposed to move. Thanks again, Mike Markey |

Before you attempt to adjust the tensioner, you must loosen the large bolt that locks in the tensioner. Feel around just forward of the tensioner. Think it's maybe a 17mm. If you attempted to adjust without first loosening this bolt, then you may have already stripped, bent , or screwed up the adjuster.
You really need to get a manual, before attempting some of these tasks. Hope it helps, Steve |

Thanks that does help, I started to try and do this and didn't get anywhere after a couple of minutes so I stopped. Hopefully I didn't strip it already! After I loosen the bold where is it that I am supposed to tighten?

You tighten/loosen using the nut at the top of the threaded adjustment rod. If you shine a flashlight in the area in front of the tensioner, you will see a pointer. As you make adjustments the pointer moves either left or right. You need to find out where the adjustment should be for your particular engine. Kind of difficult to verbalize.
Search the forum on Belt Tensioner Adjustment or something like that. Or you might just swing into an indepent MB shop and have them do the adjustment. Should be a cheap job. Steve |
