Not another evaporator thread- but close

1989 300ce... I was about to buy it, but expansion valve is leaking.... tech fixes expansion valve..says radiator and condensor are relatively new...a/c now fine. A/C is R-12.

tech believes the evaporator has been replaced because the expansion valve ties into copper tubing on the evaporator side

Do any 1989's have original evaporators with copper tubing...or is this likely a replacement..... I will take the risk if its not totally copper....but don't really want to buy one that has an original evaporator..

The inlet/outlet tubing to the factory evaporator is copper. The body of the evap is aluminum, with the little soldered on elbows connecting all the tubes comprising the evap again copper. Don't ask how I know this

So what you see doesn't tell anything about whether the evap has been changed or not. Sorry.
