190D 2.5T 5-speed throwout bearing "fork" problem??

I am converting an '87 190D 2.5Turbo from automatic to manual trans. I have what I believe is a complete setup from an '86 190D for the trans/shifter/flywheel etc. I believe that the trans, shifter, clutch, pressure plate, etc. is the same on a 190E 2.3 8V. I bought the setup second-hand, so I am not 100% sure of the origin of all the parts.

The problem I just discovered is that the "fork" that moves the throwout bearing forward doesn't appear to be the correct part. The spacing between the fork's pivot ball surface and the slave cylinder pivot surface is too long. I'm not 100% sure if the problem is with the fork or the pivot ball.

The pivot ball that bolts to the trans case sticks "straight out". The slave cylinder can only go on one way. The problem is that when I put the fork on the pivot ball, the whole fork is positioned too close to the centerline of the input shaft, and causes the slave cylinder not to be able to line up properly.

Can anyone tell me if the pivot ball is supposed to stick straight out, or does it mount at an angle? Alternatively, can anyone measure from center-to-center between the pivot points on a 190D/190E throwout "fork"? Any help appreciated.

SteveM.
