200te cutting out after 10 mins

I have a 1992 200te auto estate and have a problem for the past year. On a cold morning I start the car OK. I drive for 10 mins and if I stop at a roundabout or traffic lights the revs start to decrease. I have to put the car in Park and rev it to keep it running. When I try and pull off I have to floor it to bring the revs up enough to pull away.

Now I have to turn the car on in the morning and leave running. After 20 mins it reduces in revs and stops. The car will turn over but will not start. I leave the car for 20-30 mins and then try and it starts up, revving will mean that the car will not have the problem again for the rest of the day.

Its like its OK in the morning but when reaches a certain temperature it stalls. I do not have this problem when the weather is warm in the morning.

HELP!!!!

We always start with the basics here. When was the last tune up on the car? Plugs, filters, etc

This issue has been discussed on this forum many times in the past and in most cases, technician(s) participating in the thread would point to the fuel pump relay.

Serviced less than a year ago

I have had this problem for a while and got the leads and plugs and a full service done but this didnt help the issue. This was approximately 9 months ago. The guy at the garage said it may be the injectors, whatever they are and it would be an expensive job.

Someone else said it is a choke problem, someone else said it could be the mixture in the carb not being right.

I am getting confused with the different solutions and need HELP.

Next time it acts up, go give the OVP relay a few taps and retry it..

Archieves 'OVP"

Just use the search feature "OVP"
All you need to know can be found there ,, you do not have to be a mechanic to use the archieves...

Ovp

Behind the battery. Behind the black cover by the COmputer. Has a red fuse on top.

List of possible fuses as mentioned can include.

OVP - Indicators of this can include cutting out, no cold fast idle and fast idle when hot. Overly rich mixture and hesitation.

Idle control valve - can inlude cutting out, slow cold idle fast hot idle, hunting in idle.

Fuel pump relay - Ive heard this ussually happens when hot.

I would start with the OVP as the guys have mentioned and then try cleaning the Idle control valve. Its a cheap fix and sometimes works.
