I am preparing a recently purchased 300E,1987 for Maryland State inspection. The cables for both rear door window are severly crimped along their length and have come unraveled. What do I have to do to repair the electric windows? Can I buy new cables and replace the old ones? What causes the cables to unravel? I am quite handy and will do the work myself.
Thanks.

As far as I can remember, the W124 power window systems can be taken apart...(the W202 C class is a one-system-buy only).
If you exchange the cables only or the complete system, don't forget to grease the cable to prevent them from wearing. The MB techs that built up the car cut on grease and that is the reason why these cables wear... greetingz,

I cannot find any replacement parts for the rear window regulator. A brand new system including the motor is over $100. If you know of any replacement parts avalible, such as cable, please post it and the part number too if possible.
Thank you David |
