Please, I need advise on what to look for about this problem:

Today when I started my W124 1995 E 320 T an strange noise started near the front left speaker (like static). The stereo was off, but anyway I opened and disconnected the speaker. The noise continued.

Then I noticed that the Rev. Counter and the fuel/temp/oil pressure gauges are dead. Though, the speedometer, clock and outside temp. gauge work fine. The amp/brake/brake-pad/bulb-out lights don't work either, the rest work normally.

Checked the fuses and everything looks O.K. Any guesses on what can be causing this noise and the partially dead instrument cluster? Are there any relays behind the cluster?

Thanks in advance for your help.

problem solved

Thank you very much!

Looked again at the fuses, changed fuse No. 5 just in case, although it appeared O.K. After the new fuse was installed: everything went back to normal, the noise dissapeared. The filament on the old fuse separated just before I was throwing it in the trash.
