Turned on air conditioning, get cold air out of center dash ducts and hot air out of defroster and right and left dash ducts, HELP.

You most likely have a water valve problem. The thing is turned off with vacuum so the vacuum could also be a problem.

I have an '87 with the same trouble. What was the result of your findings?

Had the same problem, no vaccum to the water valve which needs vaacum to close, it is spring loaded to the HOT position. My problem was the mixing actuator. Getting it fixed was a NIGHTMARE perpetrated by my local dealership. 4,5 hrs and 80.00 for the part. Any COMPETENT private shop can fix it.......
