Just to be sure, will this transmission fit my car?
I'm planning on putting a transmission from a '91 190e 2.6 into my '87 260e. This should work fine, correct? They're both the 722.4 from what I've read.
Will there be any difficulties because of the year difference, or anything else? |

Where did you read that an 87 260E is a 722.4? I don't think that's right. It's on your transmission and the VMI.

260e's had the 722.4, 300e's had the 722.3. Plus I have the orig build sheet for my 260e and it lists the transmission as 722.4 (a vin check on the mercedes vin site also shows this)

What's the difference between a 722.3 and a 722.4?

Transmission; Will it fit
Yes the transmission will fit/work. The difference between the .3 and .4 is size.
the .4 fits the 2.6 ltr. 103 engine and was made smaller and lighter since the engine developed less torque. Mike |
