Flex disc rubbing on the transmission tunnel

I had the tranny re-built on my 560sl in the process discovered that I had a cracked flex disc so I bought one and had the tranny guy install it for me. Ever since, on any more than easy, gradual acceleration, I can feel something rubbing the floor in the transmssion tunnel. I finally got around to taking it back to the transmission shop and damn, they are out of business.

Can't recall, are their 2 discs on the 560sl's and maybe the other is bad also or?

Any ideas would be helpful.

JB

You may want to check the transmission mount.

I agree, check the mount. It sounds as if the drive line was not reassembled correctly causing the transmission to sit too high or something of that nature.

No wonder the tranny shop is no longer in business!

Help me locate it?

Not familiar with trans mounts, when I get it up in the air where would it be, and how would I know if they are not seated properly or some other problem?
Thanks.

When you get it up in the air look at the cross mount at the rear of the transmission. At the connection point where the cross mount attatches to the frame look to see if it originally rested on top of the frame or if it was bolted underneath the frame. Age should show an impression on where it was originally before it was worked on.

Things like that is what to look for or just take it to the Steelership and ask them to tell you what was done on the installation that would be the cause of the problem.

Hope This Helps!

Check out this 'flex-disc' . . . or what used to be a flex-disc. This too was 'rubbing' but you couldn't hear it . . .

Check out this Flex-Disc . . .
