Its the same engine.

Long block (+$3,200) comes with heads. Short block doesnt.

Suppose I installed the long block to the existing engine, will it improve the performance?

depends... if you put the old heads on without a refreshing(rebuild them) it will probably be the same..

A long block comes with everything except the accessories (alternator, AC compressor, hydraulic pump(if equipped) )

Thanks a lot for the great info. Can you please tell me what do I need exactly to install the long block on my existing short block engine and what I have to replace?

You'll replace your old engine w/ a long block, ie, block, heads, intake etc.....

Thus, you yank your old engine, pull the accesories/exhaust manifolds off, put them on the new engine and re-install.

If you are going to replace the engine, might as well replace it with an M119 - more HP, better economy.

You sound like you think this is some type of performance increase? You don't "install a long block" to an existing engine. "Long block" refers to a complete engine assembly, "Short block" means you get the block, pistons and crank, not much else. It isn't a way to increase your engine's stroke, which it sounds like you're thinking.

Unless something is critically wrong with your 560 engine, replacing it won't result in any performance increase. In fact, you're talking about buying a 560 US-spec and replacing your presumably euro-spec 560 engine with it - a horrible idea.

The photos shown are an m119 I believe. Not an m117, it clearly has dual cams in the photos. If you're looking for performance updates, then don't spend that much on a US-Spec 117, put the money into a euro-spec m119 5.0.

I thought it would be much easier than what it is.
