72 220D NOT CHARGING/NO POWER -FIELD WIRE

1972 220D 4CYL. DIESEL 4SPD
I've traced the blue generator field wire into the passenger
compartment/drivers side.Where does the wire get it's power
to energize the gen. field?I can jump voltage and get it to charge.
