Hello, was hoping someone with more knowledge on the factory sound system could help me here. I have a 1992 190E and it appears that the front speakers are not working. The rears work and so do the subs in the doors. Dinking with the fader, there is some crackling noises that come through the fronts, but no sound.
Could the issue be the fader? Since I do not know the sound system wiring, not sure if it a separate amp powers the front speakers or if they run off of the internal deck power. Anyone with a wiring schematic that you could e-mail me? One last note, if it is the head unit, can someone assist me with the proper procedure for removing it? thanks Rik |

Clean the fader with contact cleaner. Exercise it a lot, back and forward. Probably some drink or "gunk" got in there. Are your window switches working OK? Look in the DIY section or the car audio section for more detail input...
