Also, I just noticed that I now have three 320's.
I had a 1993 300E (3.2), and I bought at the dealer the E320 badge that was used in 1994-1995, and swapped the badges.

Yes, but the 300CE 24 badge was only used on the earlier M103 3.0 liter 24 valve engine.

If I were to do it again, I would've rebadged the car like it should've been in the first place, just like in the rest of the world:

320CE

All you need to do is take out the pump for the h/l washers (see, there are two pumps located at the bottom/front of the washer fluid reservoir) and place a plug where the pump used to be. You can buy the plugs at your local MB dealer. I'd suggest buying 2 or 3 plugs. First, you may mess up the plug when you are installing it (for some reason they are tricky). Second, the plugs often fail, so it is nice to have a couple as spare. They are fairly cheap. BTW wait until the fluid in the reservoir has cooled before yo do this job. As you know, Benz in its infinite wisdom chose to heat the washer fluid. If you perform this operation while the fluid is still hot, you will get an uncomfortably warm sensation on your hand...

The headlight motors are attached to the bottom of the headlight units and they all (lights and h/l motors all come out as one single unit. Just be careful not to scratch the top of your bumper as you pull the headlights out.

You do not need to do anything with the wiring for the extra pump of for the h/l wipers. Just tape over the plugs to protect the contacts from dust and grime.

It is a fairly straightfoward job!

Let me know when you are ready!

Hi Benz,

I got them on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=016&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=260111513090&rd=1,1

$114.- shipped, not bad the price but someone here said those lights do not have the Mercedes look, that dampened my expectation a little bit.

I am not doing well, still needs to figure out how to remove the headlight wipers, see no screws and don't want to break anything.
I'll take before-and-after pix.

btw, You 300CE has a beautiful color.

Thanks for the compliment. As I get older I like red more and more. Seems like I read someplace that looking at red color elevates a man's testosterone levels.

I will dig for pics that I took which show how the wipers are removed. I think that they are in my other computer.

Basically you grab the headlight wiper arm and flip it down, towards you. When the arm is parallel to the bumper, you will see the nut that holds the wiper arm in place on the motor shaft. Unscrew that nut and pull the whole arm away from the motor shaft. You also need to disconnect the water hose leading to the wiper arm.

Like I said, I will look for the pics and post them.

The lights that you bought have a different look (compare them to mine). I've seen a lot of cars with those kinds of lights, so there are people who do like them. The most important thing about chaning the US-spec lights is to get better lighting down the road.

If you like them, and they light up the road, that's all that matters. If not, you can sell them here and buy DEPO or Bosch lights.

OK Tex, here are some pics. I will still look for the pic of the wiper motor assembly.

This pic (arrows) show the various screws that you need to remove. From left to right, the first arrow shows what the wiper motor shaft looks like when you remove the wiper arm; next to it is the connection to the fluid hose that goes into the wiper arm; next over (pointing down) you will find one screw that needs to be remove; the other two arrows (pointing up and down) show two more screws that also need to removed; finally the last arrow points to the clip, behind the turn indicator light assembly that you need to squeeze in order to get the turn indicator assembly out.

You need to remove this screw (right side). If your car has the dual aux. fans, this will be a little bit tricky.

Same screw as above, but on the left side. You will need to remove the air snorkel going from the air cleaner housing to the left side of the radiator.

You need to remove the top, black plastic spacer (for lack of a better term). then you also need to remove the screw at the end of the trim panel. These screws are easily visible.

I would suggest that you buy from the dealer (or from PerformanceParts) two mounting kits. It will include all the screws, clips and the black "spacers" that you will need. You can reuse the ones you already have, but you'd probably want new parts. The kits are cheap.

I hope this helps. I will post the otehr pics when I find them. I will also post pics of what you need to do to "re-wire" the elecrical plugs.

Good luck!

for the badging just get an e320 badge and get the badge from a c240 you can make your own e320 24 out of it.

the dash might be tricky to get though...

BUt you could do it.

I opted to leave mine debadged all together. I think it looks clean without the badging. still debating on putting on the amg badge on mine...

THought I am also seriously considering swapping the neuspeed sposrt springs ( which are really H&R's ) for the stock springs and thinnest spring pads. want to soften the ride a bit on mine it is stiff and I am getting tired of it.

May switch out back to all stock or go with sportline springs and shocks on mine at some point.

Though I may just leave it as it is because I will pick up The new W204 C300 or 350 sport in the next year.

Tex:

When you remove the headlight assemblies, this is what the headlight wiper motor and shaft look like. The motor comes off easy once you remove the nuts holding the shaft to the headlight assemblies.

MORE PICS (I KNOW, TECHNICALLY THESE DO NOT BELONG HERE, SO IF THE MOD WANTS TO MOVE THEM TO THE tECH hELP SECTION THAT WOULD BE COOL!)

This bolt needs to be removed.

This bolt also needs to be removed.

Wiper arm in the "down" position. This nut needs to be removed.

Wiper motor off hedalight (US-spec) light assembly. Notice where teh motor (through its shaft) mount to the assembly. Also notice the motor electric plu/connection. It slides right off.

The TE with new Euros and new (w/o holes) trim panel. (I know THIS pic really does not belong on the copue thread. sorry )

Hi Benz,

I put the Euro headlights in today. It took me 5 hours, and would have been longer without your tips and pix. I partly broke a spacer, it is still holding but I need to buy a new one. They look OK to me, I made no photos because the light in the garage is not so good and when using flash there is a lot of reflexion from the crome grill and from the lights themselves. I'll make some tomorrow.

Still there are three problems:

1. big blunder of me: I removed both water pumps at the bottom of the washer liquid container instead of only the one for the headlight wipers. And it happened that the gasket at the end of the pump for winshield has been broken. Now i have a leak and no water for the windschield until tomorrow with a new part.

2. Even the low beam is very high, the high beam is almost toward heaven . I don't see any adjustment button; Need to bring the car to a service station for adjustment.

3. I did not connect the city lights and when I turn the headlights on, the parking light on driver side is also on, triggering the warning light for exterior light failure on dashboard. Can the unconnected wires at pin 3 (city light) the cause? If yes how should I connect them, the wires are now open-ended and taped.

Again thanks for your support. I'll post some photos soon.

OK, taking your last question first. Did you use your old 4-pin connector or did you buy a new 6-pin connector? If you used the old 4-pin connector you probably "miswired" the lights, hence the warning light. If you use the right connector and wire it correctly you should be fine.

Here is a pic of the old connector. The red arrow points to the top end of the connector:

Here is a pic of the new, 6-pin connector. The red arrow points to the top of the connector and the blue points to the location of the wire for the city light. You do not need to connect a city light (at least not in the Bosch or Depo lights). The city light is entirely optional. If you are going to wire the city lights, you need to buy two pins to insert in the connector. You need to solder the wire to the pin and then insert in the place shown by the blue arrow. Then you splice that new wire to one of the wires in the plug/connector that goes to the turn signal assembly. NOTE: THE WIRE IN THE TURN INDICATOR CONNECTOR IS THE GREY ONE WITH A RED STRIP NOTTHE BROWN ONE. That connection turns on the city lights whenever you turn on the parking lights (First stop on the light switch). The city lights remain on when you turn on the headlights. I didn't think that hte lights that you bought would have city lights though.

Regarding your second question I am not sure where the adjusting screws are in the your lights. You may try contacting the seller and asking him. Or just take your car to a mechanic to have the lights adjusted.

Regarding your first question: big blunder of me: I removed both water pumps at the bottom of the washer liquid container instead of only the one for the headlight wipers. And it happened that the gasket at the end of the pump for winshield has been broken. Now i have a leak and no water for the windschield until tomorrow with a new part.

I did it both way with my cars. In the 300TE I took out the second pump and put a plug. I've had to replace that plug because it sometimes breaks off (remember the fluid in the tank is heated and it gets HOT!).

In the 300CE I left the scond pump in and just unplugged the power connector and I crimped/plugged the hose leaving the pump. Of course, w/o power to the second pump, you don't even need to plug the hose, but I did it anyway.

Since you took the pump out, just get a plug from the dealer (I would buy 2 or 3 to have spares) and then refill the the tank.

With the above, you should be good to go.
