Does the car's LED stay on when the h/b reader is NOT installed?

LED wont flash

yes, it stays on as long as I hold the button down. And the h/b scanner does the same thing..The dealer must of had the box open because when I was near it I noticed it wasnt tightened all the way down..Nice job!!

That's encouraging. . . so to be clear, the car's LED works ok (when you press the PB, the LED lights; when you let go, the LED goes out)

So does your hb reader when it's NOT connected to the socket, then it's wired wrong. How can it work OK when not connected??? Maybe LED is wired backwards??

S/B wired as shown in MENU#2 at the bottom of the page.

My h/b reader only acts this way when connected.. But I thought the LED would flash once,if the system was good.. It doesnt flash ,it stays on as long as I hold it down..

I ask "specific" questions b/c it makes a difference.

So, to be clear, the car's systems works OK by itself. When you connect the h/b reader, the LED in the car lights as well as the LED in the h/b reader.

If so, the LED in the h/b reader is wired backwards!!

Yes ,the cars system is working the way you said... press the pb.. the lite is on.. let the pb go the lite goes off. With the h/b connected all lites are off untill I press either button down..When I press the button on my reader.. the reader lite goes on.the LED on the car does not lite... the LED on the car lites only when pressing the pb button..Neither ever flashed..Which I thought thats what I was looking for.. I hope I explained it in detail for you.

This is a good lesson for you (eddie) and all reading this thread. Six (6) posts were 'wasted' b/c you didn't explain it properly in the first post. Plus we have sent three (3) PMs. ====== ALL WASTED!!!!! ========= Maybe you think that we can "osmose" the info but we can't! Ok, enough of the rant!

Yes, it's working fine from your description. When the system has been read, it takes some time for it to re-poll the other modules, so the LED won't flash.

When you tested the h/b reader, you brought up codes that were stored, and reset them. The system will come back. I suggest that you use the car's system to read the Diag Module; and use the h/b reader to read the other pins.

Read the DTCs from MENU#6 (Diag Module) on my pages.

Read "EA/CC/ISC" module; read "LH/SFI" module; read the "DI Module". Use the h/b reader for these; the pins are detailed in each menu items as to where to connect.

I'd reset all codes and then see what comes back.

Let us know.

Sure. . . get those codes you read translated into DTCs for 'humans' and post what they are.

We'll go from there . . .

Interesting faults . . not sure I've ever read so many "CAN" faults. . and/or the lack of communication over it???

Read the "ABS/ASR" and "SRS" module to see what they say.

I suggest that you try to format the post's findings similar to the format you read in the various menus. It's hard to read what you posted in #28 since it all runs together; not sure what's what!

For example, the EA module's DTCs are interesting in that it was a combo of events. How's this format;

Module --- #DTC----- Explanation
EA -------- 7 ------- Data bus (CAN):
--------------------- msg from EA/CC/ISC control module (N4/1) faulty
--------------------- msg from LH-SFI control module (N3/1) faulty
--------------------- msg from Ignition Control module (N1/3) faulty
LH-SFI ----20 ------ No data transmission with LH-SFI control module-N3/1
DI -------- 26 ------ Ignition control module (N1/3) data exchange fault

It makes it easier to understand. . .

Back in post#14, BMG asked about the wiring harness . . . haven't seen an answer. Was the engine wiring harness replaced in this car???

All of the CAN failure are pointing to "themselves". . . so it's time to investigate the wiring harness.

I did it for you two post back(#31) . . . you can delete your post . . or edit to look like mine. Yours is still confusing!!!

But the order of the day is post#32 . . . please answer that question. If you don't know whether it's been changed, then cut open (very carefully!!!) one of the cables to check the wires inside.

The 'best' one is the cable to plugs into the MAF with the quarter-turn connector. Cut the sheath and check those wires. Let us know.

OK, if it was replaced, it will look new all over . . at the injectors, at the ECT and CTS sensors.

Be interested in what you find. If you have a digital camera, a pic or two replaces a lot of words . . .

You can buy one from your local dealer, or click on the "Buy Parts" tab at the top of the page.
