I'm having difficulty removing the rear cover of my driver's seat in my 1989 300E. I am referring to the rear cover on the driver's side front seat. I have leather power seats. This rear cover has the mesh pocket on it. A passenger accidentally broke the plastic frame which supports the mesh pocket and the screw was snapped off, leaving the whole pocket dangling. To replace the screw, one must remove the rear panel itself.
I located two 1/2" Philips screws at the bottom of the panel/cover and removed those. It looks like the panel should slide down and off, but it is stubbornly refusing to budge. I am assuming there are clips or retainers of some sort which hold the panel in place. I don't want to pull in the wrong direction and damage the clips. Anyone know how this panel comes off? Any tricks or do I need more elbow grease? ![]() Thanks!
