Help! I'm blonde and trying to fix this car! (fuel injector, I think)

Hi guys! Okay, I'll start by telling you I have a '75 450 se, fuel injected, gas engine. I need some terminology help. I have gas leaking from a rubber hose that appears to be going over the tip of one of the injectors, without being outside looking at it, i think it's "L" shaped. What is this exactly called and is it something that I can replace? Also, when I first start the car, the idle goes up and down in a rythmic pattern for about 3-5 minutes and then it will "catch" and idle fine. It only does this when it is in "Park". Today, I got impatient and put it in "Drive" before it "caught", and when in gear, it idles fine, put it back in park and it went back to up and down until it caught. Where do I need to look first?

Thanks!

On the 1970 thru 1975 V-8's with fuel injection it is VERY common to have fuel leaks at the injectors. WE always replace all of the rubber hoses whenever any of them leak(FIRE). Have seen "many" of these engines catch on fire, MB even had a recall back in 1975 to replace all on the rubber hoses & they were only a few years old then!!!
The idle problem is related to the additional air valve.

MB Doc:

Thanks for responding! Is there a paticular part name for these hoses, or can I just go to the parts store and get some by the yard?

Thanks again!
Dana

MB fuel line is 7.5MM part number 114-997-18-82, you need at least a meter. There are seperate kits for the injectors, part number 001-586-00-07 (4 required)! ALSO use new OE hose clamps part number 001-997-69-90 (16 required).
There is a special "elbow" hose at the rear, part number 116-476-18-26. FIRE can happen!! use only OE quality.

M.B. Doc:

Thanks for the parts info! And don't worry, I do not drive this car, just getting it fixed up for the road. Just replaced floor pan and all interior carpet, rear sway bar ends, fuel pump and filter, tie rod end, all brake pads, discs, rotors, and calipers, all of the fluids and filters, fuses, bulbs, etc. Cleaned and detailed a severely filthy engine and that's when we noticed the leaking injector hoses! I have driven it around the block a few times though! Thanks again! No more of that until this little fire hazard is fixed! I do have another question for you.....
From what I understand, the additional air valve is next to the idle adjustment. When I look at mine, being the non-mechanic, I see something that is bolted with 2 allen head type screws and has a hose about 5-6 inches long part#1160940091. Am I anywhere near the right area? Can you tell me a little about this additional air valve? Is it something that has to be adjusted or replaced? The hose that I just gave the number for is the only hose left that is cracked and I haven't been able to find it. I've checked Fastlane and Benzbin (who has generally had everything I need for a very reasonable price!) Any info is GREATLY appreciated!

P.S. On a stranger note, I can not figure out why this car, a euro model, has american headlights and bumpers!

the non-euro stuff on a euro car:

was probably DOT required to be mod'd to COT specs for the vehicle to be legally registered into US...
