How to get Access to the Driver's Side Engine Mount on 190E 2.3-16???

Well, the passsenger side came out and went in without a hitch, but I cannot even get a wrench on the driver's side mount upper fastener, without taking what looks like the intake manifold and the rest of the gear attached to it off. Is this the only way? If someone could give a hint it will settle for me whether I do this myself or at all. I imagine the cost to take all that stuff off is going to be high if I take it to a mechanic, so I may return the mount I have left. The passenger side mount was about 2" shorter than the new, replacement unit. The driver's side mount does not look quite as collapsed. Thanks for the help, Jim

Well I use a "short" Snap-on 17mm wrench & long pry bar to break the upper bolt loose. It's tight but with just the right angle it can be done.

M.B.DOC, Another Hint , Please

M.B.DOC,

Is this set up a socket with an extension that you get to from above? Do you remove the air cleaner? I can not even see the bolt head from above, except at a pretty serious skew from front to back. Another hint before I either give up or start tearing into the engine compartment. Thanks, Jim

I work from below the engine, DON'T think you could touch the bolt from the top. Very short 17mm WRENCH & pry bar.

M.B.DOC,

Thanks, I will give it one more try. Wish I lived a little closer to where you are, I might bring it in for the job. Thanks again, Jim
