so that "goo" is normal... when i got my SDL i spent lots of time scrubbing and pressure washing thinking the PO used spray glue...

Thanks for the reply, but I'm still a bit unclear. What I need to know is do they have the molding on the bottom to go directly on the floor, as in do they have molded cut outs for the vent tubes? Or, are they supposed to sit on top of the factory bottom mats (that have the molded foam to match the topography of the floor)?

they sit on top of the factory carpeting..

carpeting and floor mats are two different things

Just bought a set of front mats for the E300. She has the gray interior and I went with the dark gray mats. Seem like a good idea but now that I have them they seem a bit dark. Ms Mash does not get home till tonight so I'll have to see how they look in the car.

The mats seem like they are very high quality and very well built. Not sure how cleaning them will work but I'll cross that bridge later.
