help locating vaccum element
Would someone please help me locate the vaccum elements for the climate control on a 1987 300SE/euro. I know the main flap acctuators are behind the glove compartment .My question is where are the "rest of them " . Are they behind the main console , or hidden away up in the dashboard area ?
How do you get to them to test them ? |

They are spread around the evaporator/heater case.
Behind the glove box is the row of switchover valves that control them. You will need a good vacuum schematic. Just disconnect the line of proper color for each unit to be tested and apply vacuum to it. If it holds the element is probably good. The linkage occasionally become disconnected so running the blower and watching the changing function will finish verification.

thanks Steve for a speedy response. What is the best way to get to and see these acctuators. I removed the lining from the driver side(as per the CD) but don't see anything exposed there , nor (from memory of the last time i pulled it ) from the glove box - other than the ones for the main flap. Am I wrong ?, what am I missing ?
