The details are really crucial here. Adding an 1100 ohm resistor inline with the temp sensor will raise not lower the temperature trigger point. The resistor must be in parallel with the temp sensor. Also the 1100 ohm value is specific to the M119. 700 ohm on the M103 brings the trigger temp from 105c to 90c.

Since I am getting an engine out of a 90' with less than 80000miles on it. Where these engines made with better head gaskets by any chance. Iv'e read the M103 original gaskets were'nt much good & this was admitted by Mercedes. Did they improve them as the years ran?
