Importing w210 wagon
Does anyone know what is involved in importing a w210 chassis Wagon with the 606 Diesel here to the US. Or if its worth the trouble.

Imported to where? If the U.S. the answer is on the EPA and DOT websites.

It'll be a lot easier and cheaper to swap the engine into a car already in the US.

Costly and slow if the car is newer than 25 years old, which it is. You'd be better off taking the $4000 it'll cost you to import and dropping the engine in one here stateside.

The number of folks that can bring a car like this into compliance is a LOT smaller than it was 20 years ago--simply because it's even less feasible and economical than ever.
YOU will be the importer--they will just do the compliance work. This effort is about 99% of the time applied to high-end exotic cars rather than used car clunkers, as the price range of the former can support the cost. These are NOT low-margin folks. Note also, that compliance includes both emissions AND safety.

It's also probably not legal to put a diesel engine into a gasoline W210.
