230e - Heat on only one side
My wife has a 91 230e which blows hot air from the heater to the left side but only cool air to the right side. The rotary heat switches are set to maximum. Are there individual sensors for each switch ? If so how do I check / replace. Thanks in anticipation from a cold Scottish town.

Before you do anything else undo the radiator cap (when the engine is cool of course) and rev the engine for a few minutes with the cap completely off. This should help purge the system of any air. Check the fluid level after. Close the cap and test the heat.

Hello,
I have a 230te and had a similar problem after doing the head gasket but it cured itself so I put it down to air in the system ref above post. Spoke to the dealer and he said the duo valves often go ,it is in front of the brake master cylinder ,has two pipes going into it and costs about £80!!You need the chassis no as there are loads of different types. Hope this helps . Hamish |
