190 Shifter console problem!
Ok, Here goes,
I managed to disassemble the console around the shifter to replace the bulb in there but when it come to putting it back together, the wood trim doesn't clip back in properly. The front seems to fit OK but the rear keeps popping back up. Has anyone else had this problem? Maybe I've missed something when re-assembling.... Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

If it's anything like the console on the 126, the panel has two "legs" just about even with the rear of the shiftgate opening. You have to set the panel inplace, a little forward of the final location and press down slightly while pushing the panel rearwards. That should engage the legs so they catch the cross bar of the console that is bolted to the rear of the shiftgate. Hope that makes sense.
Then once the rear is caught, the coin dish fits into the slot at the front of the panel and compresses the panel even further. Hope this helps.

Mike,
It seems like mine is a.bit different than the 124. It appears to be the shift gate & the P-D-N-3-2 window thing thats to high and interfering with the trim. I can't get it down any further though. Thanks anyway |
