Replacing outer control arm bushings
My independent gave me a quote of $450.00 to replace both rear outer control arm bushings (the source of bad squeak at left rear wheel) on my 88 300TE. Anyone out there familiar with this effort? Is it a tough DIY project? Also will an alignment be required after this work is completed? I would assume so but my tech failed to include it on the estimate.
Thanks, Ed C. |

I did mine recently. You need a tool to pull the old outer bushings. About $100 from www.baumtools.com. Still a pain the A$$ to do it and I do have access to a lift. It is "doable" by a DIY'er like myself but, thing about it. The actual bushings are cheap.
Good luck! ![]()
