Thanks for the '97 C class details, so you just completely remove/disconnect the module and the jobs done? I'll give it a try...

TIFOSI,

Yes, just unplug the unit will do it. I forgot to mention the unit is and will remain attached to a set of harness unpluged. Just use a long zip-tie to secure it from dangling.

By the way, an extension will be needed to get to the 8mm screw deep in the hole of the knee panel.

If you are careful, the job could be done without removing the parking brake cable release from the knee panel. Just pull and hold the brake release handle out when you remove the knee panel screw behind it.
