Help! ML-320 Oil filter
I'm changing my oil for the first time with my ML, everything was going smoothly until I pulled out the oil filter. Not only did the oil filter come out, but also this rod looking thing that is attached to the oil filter, and seems to go through the filter. I can't seem to figure out how to get it off the oil filter? It seems to be attached to the top where it has a weird looking crown, and the bottom of the filter, where it has a couple of gaskets, which are the same ones that came with my oil filter kit, so I assume they need to be changed. Anyway, please enlighten me for I need to drive my car tomorrow. Thanks, Al

Go to the DIY section on this site, it will tell you how it all goes together. Basically all late model cars, have the same assembly type, just some use different filters.

Or if you want an actual answer: Just pull the filter off the rod-thingy in the middle. Yes, replace the rubber o-rings.
