Correct - just chipped key blade no remote buttons. It has two lobes on each side for gripping (and looks like mickey mouse).

insofar as ordering a Smartkey by mail, I would be surprised if they did allow
that anymore. I organized a group buy years ago for Smartkeys ($60-ish) and
believed that raised the ire of MBUSA, after which they declared such practice
void through their dealers. they instituted 'theft relevant policy' and can be
quite adamant about having the vehicle brought to the dealer for VIN and owner verification.

the only way around this might be an MBUSA recognized locksmith who may
have some latitude in requiring the vehicle to be on site at the dealer, or towed
in.
Blade key is more like $50ish in my neck of the woods...........
You're right about the TRP though

This is only available for pre-EIS cars. The smart key blades are NOT chipped and only open trunk and doors..........

Unhappy Smart Key, New Chapter, New problem.

I ordered online and received a new smart key. Not programmed
This fit correctly on my car ignition.
Now contacting few locksmith in the Dallas they don't make and don't do programming on Mercedes Benz smart key. "Not only Mercedes but any European cars", they say.
They say that Mercedes charge them too much for the software and they do not have too much costumers looking for new keys for Mercedes cars.
They also don't cut bladed keys for most European cars.
If someone have any suggestion I will appreciate.
Thanks.

hmm, can you post a link to the vendor or ad which offered the Smartkey online?
I am getting a funny feeling you may have been duped a little, or at least, not
been fully informed of the hoops which you (now, still) need to jump through
to get a functioning key.

I bought one from the local dealer in Palm Springs. The price was $247. All I had to do was bring the car in so they could check the VIN . The key arrived about a week later. They went to the car and in a couple of minutes had it "tied" in to the car.
Do you have an indie that does work for you? If so, he might be able to call your local Mercedes and get his discounted price for you. That is how I got mine discounted.

I was just on Manufacturers, Suppliers, Exporters & Importers from the world's largest online B2B marketplace-Alibaba.com and they will bulk sell Mercedes smartkeys for very little money (a few dollars) and they will also sell the equipment to program them. Just search mercedes smartkey and then add programmer.

It would appear that somebody could make a pile of money selling programmed keys if they had the smarts to do it. I would be glad to buy from a reputable outfit such as Peach Parts.
