Sorry I'm not familiar with that manual...it sounds like it is the "all telling/all knowing" source.

I saw that particular manual on ebay. The selller is asking for $2.63 for the download format. Here it is https://www.ebay.com/itm/Latest-2019-Mercedes-SMART-WIS-ASRA-EPC-Dealer-Service-Repair-Workshop-Manual/353756240187.
Also, the manual is on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhlJXEdMF9E What do you mean by all/telling/all knowing? |

all telling/all knowing is a reference to an individual or document that possesses all knowledge and shares it...basically whatever is needed should be in there.

HI Sugar Bear, I got the download format of the manual. Here it is https://www.ebay.com/itm/Latest-2019-Mercedes-SMART-WIS-ASRA-EPC-Dealer-Service-Repair-Workshop-Manual/353756240187.
The downloading files were over 90 gigibits and that took over an hour to download,I started working on it yesterday. Still working on it today. I am trying to understand and make that darn thing work. There were too many details that were left out, not to mentioned a lot of time to get this thing working. So I had to research this thing and that took all day yesterday and today so far.It is like setting up a new computer up with all the things to make it work. There were a lot of stuff that were left out and I had to re-educate myself on building a computer. I won't bother you with the details because there is so much left out to begin with. Too many bugs to fix. The reason I want this manual is to find more information on that brake booster push rod issues. No I have not made any progress so far on the brake booster push rod and it is too cold outside after that darn tornado hitting in the area. Luckily, the tornado missed me. I will definitely report my progress on this post and if that darn virtual machine does not work at all, then I am going to do the work on the brake booster push rod based on your advice. Stay tune for the further adventures of the brake rod pusher re-installation, weather permitted. I am keeping my fingers crossed. |

Sugar Bear, I finally got that Mercedes/SMART WIS ASRA & EPC Dealer Service Repair Workshop Manual up and running. I did checked the brake booster on the manual and so far nothing says about push rod. However, I am still learning about the manual and there is a lot of stuff in there. This is going to take some time. However, I feel, at this point, am going to take your advice about putting in that push rod in the brake booster. I will follow up on this.

Got an used complete brake booster system. Same model and make.
Today, I got an used complete Brake booster system with all the parts intact as a replacement/backup for the current Brake booster system on my 1994 Mercedes E320 wagon. It is exactly the same as the older brake booster system on my current vehicle. See the pictures below:
Instead of dealing with the push rod issues, I decided to replaced the whole brake booster system with the one I bought today. Once I get the older brake booster system remove, I can put together the older (original) parts with more room to play. In addition, I have more spare parts to work with. Also much easier to install the whole brake booster system instead of haggling with individual parts of the older brake booster system with limited movement/play trying to install the individual parts on the brake booster system. Also, the process of removing the brake booster system is going to be much easier to work with based on the pelican parts technical article: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Mercedes-W124/83-BRAKE-Brake_Booster_Replacement/83-BRAKE-Brake_Booster_Replacement.htm Sorry about the poor quality of the pictures. |

Niiice...good luck!
May want to replace the cloth braided hose off the bottom of the reservoir, they age out. Consider investing in a pressure bleeder or making one, I have a Motive brand, it has served me well. I believe you would need the 0100 model.

Sugar Bear, thanks for your last post. Are you referring to the Motive 0100 as indicated in the picture?
Once I complete the booster brake system installation, I definitely will have to bleed the brake system. While I am not trying to get ahead of myself, someone told me that I do not need to raise all four wheels off the ground to bleed the brakes, just on the ground tires on. Is that true? Is there some kind of trick to bleeding the brakes while the tires on the ground without jacking up all fours (with jack stands to support)? |

I will be using this technical article as a guide for bleeding brakes. https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Mercedes-W124/67-BRAKES-Bleeding_Brakes/67-BRAKES-Bleeding_Brakes.htm

Yes that is the bleeder I'm referring to, confirm the model # that it fits MBZ's. It looks like a newer version of mine. If you are doing maintenance on other cars they offer kits with adapters.
Whether or not wheels need to be removed depends on whether or not you can access the bleeder valves/screws with the wheels in place. I could reach them on my 124. Start soaking the bleeder screws with penetrating oil now and do it several times so they don't snap off. If you can access and open the bleeders the wheels can stay on the car. Good luck!!!

Sugar Bear, Thanks for the tips! Yes, I am aware of needing to have the bleeder screws in penetrating oil, since I have never done bleeding the brakes before ever since I have that Mercedes wagon in 2005. I will use PB Blaster on the bleeder screws prior to loosen up the bleeder screws (several times prior to actual loosen up the bleeder screws as you indicated so). Also, yes, I will need kits for adapters, since I do have two other vehicles that needs to have the brake system flush as well.
I do not know when will I be able to finish this overall project in this thread, due to the outside cold weather. Cold weather does some strange things to the parts. I will do whatever I can in between days that are warmer and have sunshine. However, I will post on this thread continuously as to my progress and keeping up to date. Stay tune. |
