Anitlock light on, idling high and bad cold start

Just recently I had the antilock light come on which means there is a malfunction in the ABS system. When this happens the engine idles at 1700rpm instead of the normal 1000rpm. Then the next day in the morning, the car barely started after turning over a bunch of times.

I just had the car dynoed and found that it was running lean. Would this have anything to do with it? I also changed the spark plug wires to Nology HotWires...they have a metal attachment that comes out of each wire which they say should be attached to a ground point somewhere to ground each wire. There is no place to do this on the 16V engine, so I was wondering if this had anything to do with it and can i just cut them off since I have never seen this on any other set of spark plug wires.

Thanks,
Giancarlo

Do a site search on "OVP" or "over voltage relay". It sounds like yours is bad or has blown it's fuse.

Thanks for the lead, but now the plot thickens. My friend gave me his supposed Euro fuel pump relay before he sold his car. I didn't know which one it was but he took out the red relay with a fuse on top and put it in my car and told me that was the fuel pump relay. Could it actually be the over voltage relay instead? The fuse and cover on the top were kinda lose, so maybe the fuse lost contact. Could this have caused the problems with the ABS light and high idle?

Thanks,
Giancarlo

OVP can cause problems with any electrical system in the car, engine especially since the sensors and controls there are very sensitive. Fuel pump relay is a black box, OVP is aluminum with a rd cap and a fuse in it.

Classic symptoms of OVP relay failure. It is the only component in common with both ABS and fuel injection systems.
