ABS brake Bleeding...

After the clutch on the 300E, I have to replace the ft. pads and replace brake fluid. Any hints on bleeding and OEM spec. fluid to use? Thanks......

For this vintage, I see Dot-4 mentioned. Castrol makes a good Dot-4 that's readily available. I'm satisified with Dot-4 performance.

Lots of opinions here about bleeding. Some have even posted photos of home-made pressure-bleeders. I bought mine pre-made years ago - hooks up to a spare tire, etc. Works fine.

2-man is likely ok - I think sometimes people get carried away with pedal pressure when going this route - easy does it.

If you do the 2-man method don't push the pedal all the way to the floor as it can put the master cylinder in a place its never seen before and force it to deal with corrosion, etc. If you use the pressure bleeder, factory says 30 psi is needed to correctly bleed thru the ABS unit. Pass. rear, drivers rear, pass front, drivers front is the order. I use Valvoline SynPower DOT4 or Ate Super Blue. The Blue is not DOT approved because of its color, but I alternate back and forth. The advantage is when the blue fluid changes to clear fluid (and vice versa) you know all the old fluid is out.
