i got my 1990 burgundy 300e with 150k this May and happy as a kid with a candy. Two sets of wheels: AMG monoblocks and originals, Alpine (as of today, it is Clarion mp3 with aux line nicely pulled out to the front) and fully rewired sound system for amps and a sub. All clean, leather's perfect, paint original and shiny, engine lovely and cared for, electric perfect, everything in order (except minor DIY for fully working windshield washers and no empty light *that was bugging me*). Compared to my previous car ('89 260e with 80k, which i miss terribly, but hey, we do all die) this car is just amazing. Paid 3700 (compared to 4700 for previous with nothing, but a ding), I think I did not do too bad.

Thumbs up LUCKY FIND........

I paid $695.00 for my 87 300DT last year. (Desert Taupe / cream tan MB tex) now 232K

The car was garage kept, no rust, no dents, interior like new and it still has the new car smell!

It also had a recent new MB exhaust system, new front end parts, and AC system serviced, new windshield, new tires, new battery, and had been maintained by MB.

Why so cheap? It had a cracked head!

I put another 603 w/167K in and the car is near perfect. All together, my total investment was approx. $2500 to put on the road. Since then, I have added a Harman/Kardon gps traffic pro, new speakers, refinished zebrano wood without stain, tan leather wheel wrap, proffessional.

Faults: Turbo stuck open, cruise not working, roof not functioning and now my defrost blows only hot.

Summation: Screw the cruise and the roof! Will fix the turbo and defrost, and am planning on euro headlights soon.

Comment: I am very happy with my car and is without any doubt the finest car I've ever owned and at 31+ mpg, It has become my daily driver, the other two cars sit in my driveway and haven't driven either for quite some time now!:p

Purchased 1989 420 SEL with 134K in 1998 for $15K. Now have 285K runs good, though needs guides and seals. Replaced AC compressor, water pump, EHS. etc.

Hello,

This was my first Mercedes as well as my first car. It's a 1972 Mercedes 220/8 i'm still trying to work on it but my parents want me to sell it sience I have my other car (97' Taurus GL sedan), but I still want them both.

For the Mercedes is paid $350 (us) it needed work, and it still does.

What I Paid

1985 300D Turbo: bought it in 1996 with 125K miles for $9K. Definitely worth it.
1985 300D Turbo Wagon: bought it in 2000 for $7.5K, traded it in 2001 for E320 Wagon. Not worth it, considering I didn't do my homework on it well enough.
1995 E320 Wagon: bought it in 2001 for $20K. Worth it. Feel like we stole it from the dealer.
1972 280SE 4.5: bought it in 2003 for $8K. Pretty much restored 95%. Worth it just for the wonderful looks people give it/me as we motor along.
1972 280SEL 4.5: bought it in 2001 for $1K planning to restore it. Use it as a parts car now for the other one. Worth it as a parts car only.
1999 Land Rover Discovery Series II: bought it in 2003 for $18K. Definitely not worth it. After owning Mercedes, am thoroughly unsatisfied by this truck's build, fit, finish, reliability and engineering. Great offroad capabilities, though.

So there you have it.

95 E320T

Bought my 1995 E320 wagon in 11/2001 for $19800. Thought it was a great deal at the time but later found out was in an accident. No major problems, though. Body shop says whoever did the work did a really good job replacing with original parts. Love the car!

Smile This is my first post: My first Benz

California 1992 300E 262,000 mil and still going. Bought on 7/25/04 for $2450 so-called "book value" was $4,600. After looking for months I found this in DC...

It runs good, the tranny is shifting rough, but what really sold me was the condition of the body and interior ((and the stereo with the sub in the back)). Figured if I spent another $2000 in repairs I'd come out about even. So far, replaced the struts with Bilstien, recharged the A/C, changed the tranny fluid/filter, replaced brake lines, replace plug, wires, cap.... Basically a decent car and I'm still shy of spending $2k by $4-500. I miss the Honda's snappy transmission, but nothing compares to the appeal of a nice looking Benz. Never got this kind of attention in the Accord. Got my first speeding ticket in 9 years 2 weeks ago on a 'road test'

Enjoying reading all the comments on this board, I'm learing alot because of it. Hopefully, I'll be a DIY soon. This "pretty German girl" needs lots of attention.

92 300sd

I paid $12000.00 for a 92 300sd with 80,000 original miles in May of this year(2004). Car was kept in an airplane hanger, and is in mint condition. Learned after my purchase that these car may have faulty connecting rods and God help me if it needs an evaporator. But it looks, runs and rides great.

1985 380SE bought in 1995 for $6700.00. The car had 127k miles and it now has 207k. Replaced the a/c and kept it R-12, timing chain, ignition module, tires, not much else.
1984 Euro 500SL bought this past June for $11500.00 The car had 99k on it. Damn fine looking automobile!

My first is a 1997 e420, Its a cream puff bought from the little old lady in Las vegas only 47,513 miles on it. always parked in the garage.

The joy of this machine is beyond words.. I'm just starting to do the service work on it..Thanks to all who have given me tips..changed the oil cabin filter and main air filter, am now in the process of detailing it. as soon as I find out how to up load a pic I will do so. by the way only paid 15,700 for the gem.

Great 300SD

I just got my 300SD 3 days ago. I sold my beloved 1954 Buick as it was getting too expensive to run and maintain. I paid $2250 for a 2-owner, all service records, 123K mile car.
