Hello all,

I own a 1992 US spec 400e without traction control. How can I tell if I have a limited-slip diff?

If I hold the car with the brakes and mash on the gas, I only leave one tire mark on the pavement. How can I for sure find out if I have a limited-slip diff or not?

You don''d spin both tires. Another way to determine this is to elevate both rear tires, put the transmission in neutral(chock those front wheels!!) and manually spin one rear the other turning in the opposite direction? If so, you've got an open (non-limited slip) diff.

Never offered on US W124 chassis w/M119 engine. ASR traction control is an electronic limited slip, & throttle control.

Thanks for the info, so since it is a US spec car, then no limited slip.

So Michael, are you refering to your 92 500E that spins both wheels? If so, I thought the 500Es were also M119 engines. Was limited slip available on the 500Es, but not on the 400Es?

500Es had ASR standard.
