I have a '00 S500 and when the car is cold, slight turns in the steering wheel makes noise in the power steering. Once the car is up to temperature it goes away, has anyone else seen this problem?

I'm not sure if this is related, but in my dad's 500, we had a problem where whenever the wheel was moved when the car was cold it made a really terrible noise. When we took it in apparantly it was the power steering fluid that was low.
Although i doubt very much if this would happen with a 2000 merc.

Just a thought!

I think if it was my spanking new '00 S500, I would tour it straight round to the dealers from whence it came and get them to have look at it. Do you enjoy a 2 or 3 year warranty on those models ?

Yeah, it goes in for the service next week, I was curious if this was a problem in general with this car or just mine.

This may not be applicable to you but numerous complaints regarding steering rack noise have been noted on the W220. MBNA is aware of the situation and supposedly the factory is working on a redesign. I don't believe a remedy is available at this time.

Where is this documented anywhere ... is something online. I hate to go through what I had to do with our ML. Basically "WE" had to prove something was really wrong with the car. Funny though, they ended up fixing everything and giving us "C$SH" too!

((( Opps, I'm not suppose to say anything! )))
