Introducing myself and my 1974 280C
Hello everyone,
Just introducing myself and my newly bought '74 280C. Bought it and made a 3.5 hour trip back to my homebase. Ran a bit hot, probably need a radiator flush (not that the 93 degree day helped any). Here are some pics, enjoy. http://www.914club.com/bbs2/index.php?automodule=blog&req=attach&id=6195 http://www.914club.com/bbs2/index.php?automodule=blog&req=attach&id=6196 Nathan |

evil servo's and radiator flushes
careful on flushing the radiator if it has the evil servo ,the plastic and gaskets wont like any foriegn chemicals, best to take the radiator out to a shop to be cleaned ,and just flush with water after reinstall. Its happened to me on a 79 300td. The servos are priced like gold and have few remedies beside total replacement.Heard your only to use a certain radiator fluid to ,a type of zerex brand .

Keep pictures like these coming
It will keep me on the idea of bringing my UK 71 250CE from England and restore it.

Outstanding two-tone color scheme, makes the car look lower and longer. How in the world did you get corner vent windows on the '74? Were coupes the last hold outs for this feature?

Color Scheme
Beautiful car. Both those colors are period Mercedes Colors. I'd like to know if that scheme is original. Do you have the paint code?
- Peter.

The wife of the original owner said it was repainted in the original colors. I have some cans of paint from the redo, but it's just dupont paint. I don't have the window sticker to be sure, and I don't know why someone would think to do a repaint in this combo (even though it looks cool).
The front triangle window on my car doesn't open, if that's the window you are refering to. (sorry new to the whole MB thing). I can't wait to get into the car and get everything fully sorted. Still in really good shape since it was a one-owner car with 116k miles on it and garage kept. |

I lost the water pump and the thermostatic fan clutch was weak on my 71 250C. Replacing both brought the temp to 175 nearly all the time. BTW, very nice looking car. Michael

Climate control
I'm not sure if the climate control is more evil then the Heater motor on a
W114. I plan on rebuilding my W114 when I bring it here, but i'll leave the heater motor well alone.

Michael PS, the Coupes do have a lower roof, as well as lower seats. The missus doesn't like driving the 250C much as she can't see over the hood as well as in the 450 SEL.
