Yep, they were fast! In England, they have a rep for being a great getaway car for bank robbers.

You're truely a masochist Al. That being said I'm very eager to follow the details on this one. The XK-E's are gorgeous and all, but the saloons are gorgeous as well. Have you decided on a color yet?

Kouger

Al,

You could go the other way. Ditch the body. Keep the 3.8 engine (supposed to be sweeter and better revving than the 4.2) and buy a Kougar body to wrap around it.

Mk2's are unibody. The best move would be to get a wrecked R129 and remove the upper shell. Lift the jag so it's rusted floor remains on the ground and lower it on to the mercedes Floor pan for a fast(er) better handling jag.

A friend of mine in Atlanta has a 67 XKE. It's a series 1 1/2 which means that it's a series 1 with a 4.2 liter engine.

I'd love to paint it black.

If you want you could store it here at my place and park it next to the wreaked 280 SEL. It will look better sitting next to it.
There is a guy up here in Sherman who has a old Jag in his back yard. You should come up and look at it. Your new purchase will be lonely next to all those German speaking Mercedes. He needs a friend he can talk to.
LOL

Britton,

I may take your offer on that if your serious, but to store the W123 200 with the 5 speed before I part it, or the 280SL. It will be a while before I go near the 280SL so off site storage will be nice.

David,

I've always had a soft spot for Jaguar's, I think that all Brits do. This one especially. But I have not defected, there are still plenty of MB's in my workshop that will keep me busy.
