280se throttle linkage bushing
280se 108.018 6 cylinder - is there supposed to be a bushing in the linkage arm located on the lower right side of the engine? This arm connects to the transimission linkage, accelerator and throttle body linkage. There is a lot of "slop" between the arm and the piviot shaft located on the side of the engine. Any suggestions?
Thanks Jerry

Chas,
Thanks for the response, do you know if the bushings are nylon or brass, and do you know who might have them? Thanks Jerry

Jerry,
I don't know for sure but I would suspect that there would be a bushing. Once you get it apart you should be able to determine if there is a bushing. Since the pin is steel I wouldn't think that you will find much wear there. If there is no bushing you should be able to drill out the bellcrank and install a bushing. Nylon or brass should work just fine. Lowes or Ace Hardware have a good assortment bushings. Just find a bush with a usable OD and the bore can be drilled to fit once the bush is installed. |

Tomguy,
Thanks for your reply, I broke down and called my local Mercedes dealer parts guy. He faxed a picture from the 108 parts catalogue, I identified what I needed, got them TODAY!!! I am continually amazed that you can still get some obscure part from Mercedes for a 38 year old car! I love it! Thanks to all for your help, now, in go the parts and I'm a little closer to reviving the old girl. Thanks Jerry
