I too have heard of many of them with problems. They are actually selling for fairly low $ compared to other models of the same vintage (E class etc). I have heard that the beginning of the Diamler-Chrysler era, the Chrysler product got better, and the Mercedes-Benz product worsened. Before I got my first CDI, I looked into an R class Diesel. I think they are cool looking, but I have no need for all wheel drive and the problems associated with that system. I could have gotten a beautiful R320 with low miles (80,000 or less) for what I would have paid for a CDI with 150+thousand miles. The AWD and bad rap turned me off.....Rich
