I may be wrong in this, as I have not tried it. However, if you can find a shaft from a 240 automatic, it might be the correct length for use in a 123 with a 5 cyl and 4 speed. The 240 auto crossmember is needed for this conversion as well. It could be that the auto trans is similar more in length than the manual, as the 5 cyl is to the four cyl (the same 4"?).

I am planning to put a manual (from my dead 240) in my '82 300CD, and I am hoping that the 240 auto parts car I have will give up it's driveshaft, and that it will be the correct length. I already sold the crossmember, so I will need to source another one.
