I've called about 6 different parts shops to no avail? Where can one buy fully synthetic diesel oil in the GTA. Canadian Tire stock both Castrol and Mobil 1 diesel products in Kingston of all places but apparently not in Toronto...

That is weird! I used to get my car serviced in Toronto, always with Mobil 1. Keep checking - there are places that sell it!

CT also own PARTSOURCE - We have one in Kingston and they too have Mobil 1 in most grades.

You can also get it at Walmart - That's where I buy mine in 5L jugs and price is good. It may even be better now that they are going to US$ pricing.

You should also be able to get it at most Euro car dealerships including MB Canada. Had my E320 serviced today at dealer. They use something called FULL SYN, EURO ULTRA (and tell me that I can use Mobil 1 for top-ups). They charged me for 8L at $7.95/L. Cheaper than CT who charge about $38.50 for 4.4L. But, cost for oil/filter and inspection came to $160.00 incl tax

If it's for a Diesel, expand your search to truck and agricultural shops. Mobil Delvac 1 synthetic motor oil is actually more suitable to Diesel engines.

Petro Canada Duron is apparently 100% synthetic and I've heard it is quite good. I would buy Mobil 1 myself, but the PC stuff might be a good backup.

Truck stops along the 401 are a good idea. Look for a "Flying J" truckstop if you can.. they have just about everything in their store.

Noco Lubricants in Etobicoke used to sell Esso (and therefore Exxon/Mobil since they're related) products. Look them up and give them a call.. at one time a few years ago they were going to sell me 4l jugs of M1 and M1 ATF and the prices were really really good. They are wholesalers, but the smallest order had to be what they called a "4x4" which was 4 jugs of 4l each.. I'm assuming you could certainly use up 4 jugs quite quickly.

Personally, I'd head down to Buffalo (make it a shopping day!) and stock up on M1 at Walmart. It's probably worth the hour drive each way for the savings you'll get in purchasing M1 in the US. If I remember correctly, Canadian Tire charges about 40-50% more than US prices for their Mobil stuff.

Canadian Tire carries Shell Synthetic Rotella T chainwide.

If your local store does not have any they can order it for you at no extra cost.

I prefer the Rotella to the Mobil 1. The additive package in the Rotella is 'stronger' (Rotella is CH-4 heavy duty rated VS. M1's light duty CF rating)

Does anybody know of any good body shops in the Toronto Area?
Preferably in North York.

I hit a guard rail head-on (damage is mostly on the driver side) due to some patch or snow/ice? from the snow storm this past weekend on an off-ramp
and need to get this fixed ASAP.

The car is a 1999 C230 Kompressor, it looks like I'll be needing a new grill (S600 style grill would be nice to put on now..), a new bumper and driver side headlight

They are both Bosch Service centers. I have visited both but did not have the opportunity to do business with neither, but I will in the future. They have both been recommended to me by other MB owners.

Just a warning - I've had good service RECEIVING products from these guys but returning a defective product is another story.

I called their customer service line Jan 16 to get an RMA number to return a clearly defective product and on Jan 21 I am still waiting for the RMA. They told me it would take 10 days to get an RMA - a total joke. They are just trying to hang on to my money as long as possible.

So be warned......their customer service is pretty horrible.

I was looking for a voltage regulator for my 500SEL (W140). Found them for $28 at BuyMBParts + $12 shipping (which seems expensive to me, since it weights 2 oz!)

******** AZ wanted $24 but their minimum shipping charge to Canada was $16 or $18.

Autopartsonlinecanada.com has free shipping over $75. Their price on this part? $81+tax!

A little insane.. I will still have to pay GST in either case, so would only have to pay an extra 8% PST in bringing the item from the states, where I can get it for less than half the price!

Reading the thread, looks like the two places to try are Young Street Garage and Sanderson Motor Works.

Are they both still around, and which one would you choose?

I bought a part from that their catalog and it said it was new part, but when it arrived, the box was not factory sealed, and looked like it was taped up 3 times. I sent it back. 3 days after it had been received by them according to canada post tracking, they still did not ackowledge receipt of it. If you send something back, be sure to insure and get that tracking number.

Hello fellow Canadian, I am just looking for an MB master in the Markham/Richmond Hill area that anyone can recommend because i just did a Head Gasket change on my W124 E320 94 at a garage and now there is a "throttle valve problem they say" and i would rather now take it to a MB Tech who know his stuff, instead of spending more money just to find out its not the throttle Valve actuator. So an address and # of a highly recommended place would be of great help, once again thanks a lot

Don't know whether you're still looking, but we've used North Hill Auto Service (Bruno) for our '82 300TD for past 15 years and been pretty well satisfied. MB is basically all he does. In Richmond Hill on Centre St. 905 884-8888.
