Please help me identify this noise.
Hey I have a dual amp system, one for the subs and one for the coaxials in the cabin. There are base heavy pops which will come on when I first turn on the HU.( Its not just one pop when I turn the HU on, the popping continues) If I turn it off and then back on the noise disapears. Although on some occasions it will come back while im listening to CD's.
I have no idea what the source of the noise could be. If anyone has some insight on my problem please let me know. Thank You Mladen |

Check your ground (usually black wire) and if that's not it... maybe your speakers are blown out. Speakers pop when they're blown out.

Hey thanks for the reply. The pop is coming from my subs and I know they are not blown. The poping isnt in sync with the music or anything for that matter. Also when you say check the ground what should I check, for a good connection or what? Also i dont know if this matters but the noise hasnt been here since my installation but it just started about two weeks ago.
Please help Mladen |

like the other poster said check your grounds, primarily the one on the sub amp, sounds like you have a bad conection there that is building capacitance and varying your ground with load.

Check your RCA Cables. This could very well be a pinched or bad RCA cable. I have seen this many times.
You should also check all your connections to ensure they are solid. Did you grind the cars metal where you attached the ground wires? Check your RCA cables. If they are cheap, then put in some good ones. I have monster cable running mine, I had a pop, and replaced the cable heads with new ones, but I have seen a pinched one do the same thing, but sinc eI did my install with a friend who does it for a living, we knew it was not pinched in any way at all. We ran it through the factory wiring looms in the car. Removed entire half of interior on both sides to do it. Once side for Power Wires, one side for RCA's. Power Wires should never be run alongside RCA cables, you are asking for noise if you do that... Alon

Guys,
Theres got to be something else. I am now on the third becker radio in my 300 SE and it still pops. I was told that leaky radio electronic components were te cause I sent both amps and head unit. The Becker dealer found nothing. I ran the radio with the car stopped in the garage and antenna unpluged and it still popoes both right and left side with either the left or right amp unplugged. This is a common problem and I fear we are all missing something. I like the ground changing scheme? As for the radio working eith ground unplugged, ther are grounds going to the amps. If these are not unplugged, I would think the radio would in fact work anyway? |

What amps do you have running what? Also how do you have your Becker 780 wired into the amps? Is it possible to switch the amps or at least on the subs to determine what equiptment might be suspect?Does the amp that runs your mids and highs have a feed through that feeds your sub amp? The best thing to do is to start testing the different compenents to see where the problem lies. The other thing to check is how tight the ground is for the sub amp and also how good is the connection at the battery on the power. Both of these things can cause the problem
Let me know what you find! Scott@La Jolla Audio
