Injection pump compatibility

It turns out my horribly smoking wagon has a bad injection pump. It is constantly dumping full fuel load to injector #1.
My wagon is a normally aspirated 1980 model. My parts car is a normally aspirated(of course) 1977 300D. I've already pulled the IP from the parts car, and can take it to the guy who is working on my wagon to install if it is compatible.
The numbers on the wagon IP, near the back on a Bosch plate read
RW 375/2200 MW27.1
On the 300D IP the same plate reads:
RW 350/2200 MW19

Can anyone tell me if I can swap the one for the 300D to the wagon?

Why not have a diesel injection shop repair the dault on your IP? Usually it is a simple repair, and if it looks like nore than that, they will be able to advise you on the compatability of the second pump. If you do need to use the old pump it would be a real disappointment if it were installed and then other problems cam to light. In any case, it would be advisable to have the IP overhauled before installing it.
Just my opinion.

If cost were not an option I would certainly go that route, but I really need to catch a break here ($), so I'm hoping this IP will work. My parts car busted a timing chain, so at least I know it was in working order at that time.
Does anyone know it the two are compatible? I tied different online parts sources to match up part numbers, but most don't sell IP's.

Jimmy,
If you are confident that the IP was working not too long ago, just install it.

IIRC, the '80 will have engine oil system lubricating the IP, whereas the 77 may not. To check, look on the '77 IP for an oil filler cap marked "OEL". If it doesn't have one, it should be directly compatible.

If anyone has experience with the '77, I would be happy to be informed of any differences between the IPs on thses models.

I think the pumps are the same, just swap it out and chances are it will work fine. If your paying someone to do it you could you COULD be out some $ but having a pump checked out at a shops not gona be cheap. If its a Euro car the pump would be differant but still MAY be swapable.

They both have a small oil line on the drivers side of the IP. Both engines have 617.912 12, then the wagon has 6 digits for the serial #(matches the engine # it originally came with, as per that Russian website), and the 300D doesn't have a serial number after it, so I'm assuming it is a replacement engine?
The only thing I did notice is the wagon has 135bar injectors, and the '77 sedan has 115bar injectors. (by the way, the PO said a full tank of fuel hasn't even been run through those injectors since they were rebuilt)
I'm paying to have it installed, via the recommendation of a few on the site here, and the labor aint cheap boys....
I got the one out of the parts car in about an hour even, but the oil filter assy is lower left, where the AC compressor is on the wagon. Mechanic said the oil lines have to come off to get the IP on/off.

Well, I took the IP over to the mechanic this evening.(85 mi round trip) and will know in a few days if it works, and if it fixes the smoke. Could be a real good thing or a real bad thing. Good thing is expensive, bad thing I don't even want to consider.....
