Go ahead. Throw tomatoes at me.

I found a nice '94 E420 here locally. Records, new wiring harness, well kept, and begging for me to take it home and pour money on it. I have always wanted one, so I bought it. It runs on that gasoline stuff which, here in the bay area at least, runs a bit cheaper than diesel. But my 300D is not, I repeat, NOT for sale.

Here's the ad-copy photo. It's been raining, so I have not taken any of my own yet. 'Been too busy searching the site for advice on upgraded wheels and tires!

Congrats on the purchase! I have been lusting over a 400e/e420 for years. I too will someday have tomatoes thrown at me.

I got news for you... A 400E is capable of highway mileage figures of 26-27MPG. It would be able to better the MPG figures of many W123 Diesel powered cars.

You are going to love it.

I'll just toss a small tomato, since I "got me one o dem too"

Yes, the accelleration is something you look forward too.

Note: I just saw the above post that came through after I posted... I get between 23 & 24 mpg. If I were to strictly stick to the 70mph limit, I would think that I could add to those numbers.
Pretty much makes it a matter of what fuel is cheaper at the moment.

I deserve a tomatoe thrown at me too since I bought a gasser W123 coupe several months back. The thing was at the time I couldn't find a nice diesel W123 for the price I bought the 230CE for. I'm actually very happy with the car since now I don't pay a premium for diesel fuel to drive a MB. I may swap it some day for a nice diesel once I get my WVO operation up and running.

Gee. Thanks guys. I was worried you'd tar and feather me. The power certainly IS seductive. I was thinking of Yokohama AVS DB's on 16 inch rims.
Tirerack recommends 205/55WR16 on 16x7.5 rims. I'm going to call them this week and get some input. Right now it has 195 Pirellis on the front, and Goodyear on the front with the stock rims. Not good.

Welcome to the world of civilized motoring... Diesel, such a barbaric fuel.

At least it's a W123 What kinda fuel economy do those 4 cylinder (i think?) gas engines get?

Yes its a 2.3L 4 cyl engine but slightly different than the one found in 190E's. It averages about 26-28 mpgs for me now. I'd like to upgrade the 4 speed for a 5 speed someday.
