w126 Bosch Euro headlight wiring assistance needed

Okay, I have searched and searched and found help for w123 but NOT w126 specific help for Bosch Euro headlights.

I found a thread that reference this:
http://www.dieselbenz.info/prettier_headlights_install.htm

but this doesn't quite fit Coda's application. The tail light plug from a w126 does NOT fit. I know someone has done this before. Do I need a tail light plug from a w123?

Yup, that's for the running light. Should have a 4w bulb in it, but autozone has 10w ones that fit.

The 6-Pin Plug should still fit, there will just be one unused terminal.

A tail light plug from a w123 fits; a tail light plug from a w126 is wider between the 2 rows (columns?) of pin holes --- it will NOT fit.

I've acquired 2 w123 tail light plugs and 3.8watt bulbs from Azone place and am drawing up the wiring.

Now, let's see.....a bridge from the turn signal "running light" over to the headlight "running light".

That's how I hooked mine up. My only misgiving with doing it this way is that the bulb monitor can't tell when one of those two lamps burns out.

I must have mixed up the wires for the brights and dims.

My dims are WAY brighter than my brights.

And does anyone know how to adjust (aim) the beams on these?

Michael, it is easy to tell if the euro lights are on low or high beam: High beams use all of the reflector whereas low beams only use the top 3/4 of it. To adjust the lights you use the black adjuster knobs on the back of the fixture. You can look up a great how to for the beam adjustment on Daniel Stern Lighting.

Well, the only way to solve the bulb monitor would be to run a "home run" of wire for the running light in the headlight, correct?

Echo echo e c h o .... Hey, I'm posting via spotty cell phone service

Ya, to solve that problem you would need to modify the bulb monitor. You would need to find an unused input on the bulb monitor and use that and its corresponding output to drive the marker lights. My plan is to eventually install LEDs in the headlamp park lights, which should never burn out and should allow the bulb monitor to properly check the turn signal parking lights.

My question is...

Did the true euro version use both the side marker _and_ the bulb in the head lamp, or did they remove the side marker wiring and just use the bulb in the headlamp? This would simplify the wiring for the monitor by only testing the bulb in the headlamp, and the wire from the side marker could simply be moved to the headlamp connector.

Europe doesn't have the requirement for side visibility like the US, so no parking lights on the side. In Europe the only "parking" light is the small clear lamp in the headlight.
