Maybe they drove them all they were able to. Maybe they finally got ahead enough to buy the car of their dreams they got unlucky and passed before being able to enjoy it very much.

My Vette has just under 600,000 miles on it, it’s a toy of course so I drive my other cars most of the time explaining the “low” mileage.

GOOD all over you! I drive my junk, too (except the 'Stang which I need to dig out of the back of the shop and freshen up).

Loaded up the CE today to take it to eau claire to a studebaker upholstery specialist. Get this, he has templates for the interior of a coupe express! It'll be a day trip up and a day back.

im in the motel 8 near madison on the freeway....94 e. I'll be home before dark if I leave as early as i did this morning. I was rolling by 530. was planning to leave at 700 am but woke up at 430 and could not go back to sleep so hit the road. it snowed a little as I eased into illinois this morning but it did not last long. very windy all through illinios but it subsided a bit as I came into wisconsin. diesel is pretty cheap now.

dropped off my truck and trailer....hopefully I'll get it back all trimmed out within about 3 weeks....probably will be 6.

Got home about 630 pm after zig zagging around Illinois to miss the snow storms while the wind blew briskly and the thermometer read in negative digits all morning. It looks very good. I'll post some pictures as soon as I can get in and take some. Its a very tight fit getting in the door while in my enclosed trailer.

Pics of interior

Pics: I need to refresh the paint on the door and window cranks. Now that all the rest is new it makes them look shaggy. I think my favorite part is the shifter and hand brake boot he made without me asking.

Looking good but I have a suggestion. Instead of those stainless steel cupped retainers, pop over to the nearest Ace Hardware and pick up some plastic ones. You can paint them (and the screw heads) to blend in with your interior. Makes for a much more even look.

Thanks Mike! I will keep it in mind.

Oh yes, the pictures were taken in a dark trailer with flash looking in from the side window which is roughly the size of a large loaf of bread.

Thank Barry!

That is how they did it back then. My CE probably had painted masonite door panels, though it did have a headliner which a lot of the old trucks did not.

Cheers!

We had some rough edges to smooth out.... center bearing and support for DS, AC brackets and smaller belt, troubleshoot the heater/ac. It is ready to pick up tomorrow.

I'm considering driving it up to south bend for the spring studebaker swap meet. It would be the longest drive I have done in it and I'm not sure if I have the Cojones for it.
