That's great news John - as far as I know I can't get them here though - yet another reason to get the %^*&& out of this country!

Yes you can use the Stock Boots because you do not need to stretch them.
However, you would need to find quality type stock Boots. The Stock type Boots on my Cardone Rebuilt Axles lasted about 4 years and started to crack.
I was unable to identify who made the Boots that Cardone used.

Thx
In the Chart below the Dorman 614-001 is similar to the Astoria 3000
and the 614-003 is similar to the Astoria 3001.

The Dorman Boots have Clamping areas for narrow clamps that are not as wide as the Astoria one.
The Astoria Boots have a wider Clamping area.

I have also noticed that - the ones Febi give out look really shiny and plasticy - I'm sure a Magpie would like 'em (but I don't).

The best (cheap) ones I've found so far are made by an English company called QH (Quinton Hazell) => the one I bought were probably old new stock though - don't know what they are like now.

Thanks, that is interesting, it seems with all the millions of new boots being put on millions of new CV joints there has to be a manufacturer selling good products. Finding them is the problem. Maybe Astoria sells to other re-sellers? I wonder who is selling new boots to Mercedes, BMW, etc...

Was that the Pneumatic Tool or the Cone that Astoria sells?

Oh come on! Call yourself a mechanic? When has a mechanic not wanted a new toy? Just imagine the havoc you could cause with pneumatic pincers...

True,

But I always look for a simpler way to fix things when possible. I like how you can just slip the annulars apart to re-boot..
