The same Safeway I reported on last is now selling RUG for $1.699 and D2 for $2.399, and the 3 cents/10 cents a gallon club card discounts still apply. If it goes down another 50 cents a gallon I'm gonna have to stop running my "special blend" of cheap fuel and start saving it for the next round of price hikes...

I'm not seeing a whole lot of new diesel cars being offered, but every other mother's son is driving a 3/4 ton diesel pickup just hauling himself to and from work every day. No wonder production/supply isn't keeping up with demand...

With RUG 1.579 and ULSD at 2.299 the big pendulum appears to be swinging back our way.
Premium unleaded is now within pennies of diesel fuel
No spike in diesel prices for winter this year in the northeast; must be the recession and $38 oil prices.

what's strange in my neighborhood is the variance between the stations... near the SC state line, nc stations are around 1.45RUG and 2.05 for D, and SC stations are at 1.39RUG and 1.92D... BUT closer to the city and in and around charlotte, R is about 1.60 and D is 2.50 or so... VERRRRRRRY annoying. Glad I work near the border!

Lots different prices her. RUG is anywhere from $1.39 to $1.67 and diesel is anywhere from $2.21 to $2.67.

Just saw diesel for 2.14. I just filled on Sunday (in WI for 2.39).

Gasoline at the same station was 1.69. That is the closest diesel and gas have been in awhile. Gas is on its way back up around here as well so they could get even closer.

When I filled on Sunday (Kwik Trip just off I94 in WI), the sign said 2.34, so I pulled in and there were two diesel nozzles at the same pump. One was 2.34 and the other said 'Premium Diesel' 2.39. I wondered what 'Premium' diesel was. Upon further inspection it was winterized diesel. So of course I used that. All pumps I have ever been to don't have the option of #2 or winterized. It is all just winterized.

RUG took a .10 hike yesterday. Now @ $1.59.

Diesel went up by .06 to $2.35.

Speculation IMHO due to middle east conflict.

Diesel's going back up.
The sign on our cheapest local Shell station went from 2.299 to 2.399, but the pump was still at the old price

I didn't have a chance today to look at the station that was 2.14 but I saw other stations and diesel went up there so I can assume it went up at the 2.14 one as well.

This is the first time diesel has gone up since it started dropping from around 4.75. I'm just glad it went up proportionally with gas as gas went up at those stations as well.

If the price per barrel drops, you don't see the effect for a month.

When the price goes up, within days it goes up at the pump, too.

You're right. Greed driven by ego has everything to do with this economic downturn too.

Why on earth would they sell non-winterized diesel in Minnesota in January?
Maybe both pumps deliver #1 diesel but the "winterized" stuff has been treated to some fuel conditioner like Redline DFC, Power Service winter blend or Stanadyne, hence the nickel a gallon more?
